About Kai
Kai (they/them) is a performance and visual artist living in Western, MA. Their art takes many forms- dance, burlesque, self portraiture photography, mixed media art, poetry, and more. They also work as a grief tender offering individual sessions as well as support groups and workshops. Kai’s work is heavily influenced by their Catholic upbringing. They are the lead choreographer with The Grotesque Burlesque healing arts collective performance group based in Easthampton, MA. Kai’s work was featured in the Our Truth, Our Power exhibit and their book “Kitchen Sink Soup: Poems for the Grieving” has been met with positive acclaim. Kai was also part of the What’s On Your Plate?” exhibit at the Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls, MA.
About Celeste Grotesque
Kai’s burlesque persona is Celeste. Celeste is a celestial heavenly heathen madonna whore. They perform as a core member of The Grotesque Burlesque and are also available for collaboration with other groups and organizations, as well as for hire for private events.
